The fish population of Fawn Lake was dominated by bluegill. One-third of the fish were over 6 inches in length, but none reached 7 inches. Other panfish species present in low numbers included pumpkinseed, hybrid, and green sunfish as well as black crappie and yellow perch. Northern pike were abundant with some larger individuals present. Largemouth bass appeared to be moderately abundant.

STATUS OF THE FISHERY: The fish population of Fawn Lake is dominated by average size bluegill and northern pike,with some larger individuals present. Black crappie were taken in low numbers, but larger individuals werepresent. Largemouth bass sampled were small. Pumpkinseed sunfish are common, but most individuals are small. Large yellow bullhead are also common, but at a lower abundance than prior years. No walleye were taken in thisinvestigation despite being stocked by the local lake association.

NORTHERN PIKE AND LARGEMOUTH BASS WERE THE PREDO- MINANT GAMEFISH PRESENT IN THIS LAKE. THE NORTHERN PIKE CATCH WAS 3.5 TIMES THE LOCAL MEDIAN CATCH RATE. THE SAMPLE WAS COMPRISED OF AGES II AND III AND EXHIBITED AVERAGE GROWTH RATES. SIZES RANGE FROM 14 TO 22 INCHES. THE LARGEMOUTH BASS CATCH WAS COMPRISED OF AGES I, III, IV AND VI AND EX- HIBITED SOW GROWTH RATES. THE BLUEGILL CATCH WAS NEAR THE LMCR AND ALL WERE LESS THAN 6.5 LENGTH. YELLOW BULLHEADS WERE ABUNDANT; THE TRAP- NET CATCH WAS 5 TIMES THE LMCR AND THE GILLNET CATCH WAS 72 TIMES THE LMCR. OTHER SPECIES PRESENT WERE HYBRID SUNFISH, PUMPKINSEED, BLACK CRAPPIE AND YELLOW PERCH.
