The fish population of the lake consists of abundant green sunfish and black bullhead, good numbers of small bluegill and hybrid sunfish, and a few average sized black crappie. Green sunfish were larger than average for the species(up to 8"), but most anglers would consider them small sized. A few bluegills over 6" were sampled, but the smaller bluegill(under 6") were more abundant. No predators were sampled in this investigation.

Green sunfish, black bullhead, and bluegill were sampled during the 1993 population assessment. Low catches and diversity of fish species indicate periodic winter kills on Fish Lake. Green sunfish abundance was high, and it was the dominant species caught in both gillnets (11.0/net), and trapnets (46.0/net). Black bullheads were sampled in low numbers, but size was large, with and average weight of 0.8 lbs in trapnet catches. Bluegill abundance was low (0.2/trapnet), but average size was good (0.3 lbs and 7.2 inches).

August 5, 1985This lake has nice numbers and size of both bluegills and black crappies. Both of which are above the state and local median.
