The Courthouse Lake fish population has changed significantly in recent years due to flooding. The 1993 flood allowed many species found in the Minnesota River to migrate into the lake, including northern pike. Since Courthouse is a designated trout lake, northern pike are not a desirable species to have present. Therefore a total lake reclaimation was deemed nessessary. This was scheduled for the fall of 1994. During the spring of 1995 rainbow trout will be restocked in the lake.

BLACK BULLHEADS WERE FOUND AT ABOVE LOCAL MEDIAN NUMBERS. MOST ARE PROBABLY THE PROGENY FROM SURVIVORS OF THE 1981 CHEMICAL REHABILITATION. THE REHABILITATION WAS APPARENTLY NOT SUCCESSFUL IN ACCOMPLISHING A 100% KILL. SINCE GOLDEN SHINERS, FATHEAD MINNOW, BLACK BULLHEAD AND BROOK STICKLEBACKS WERE SAMPLED. RAINBOW TROUT ARE STOCKED ANNUALLY ALTHOUGH NONE WERE SAMPLED.
