Strawberry Lake is a 20 acre lake located 6 miles northeast of Pequot Lakes in Crow Wing County. A small gravel public access is located on the eastern shore. Water clarity is good with a secchi disk reading of 17.0'. Strawberry is a designated stream trout lake. Designated stream trout lakes have additional angling regulations. Be sure to consult the current Minnesota Fishing Regulations book for regulations, seasons, and possession limits before fishing designated trout waters. Rainbow Trout are stocked annual as spring yearlings (1,200/year). The gill net catch of 34.5/net was the highest catch observed on Strawberry. Average length was 11.1". Largemouth Bass were sampled in high numbers in gill nets (3.5/net) and trap nets (4.0/net) when compared to similar lakes. Most ran on the small side with an average length of 10.7" for gill net captured fish and 9.6" for fish from trap nets. Bluegills were sampled in average numbers at 33.4/trap net. Average length was 6.5" with 34% at least 7" in length. The presence of Largemouth Bass and Bluegills will degrade the quality of the trout angling in Strawberry Lake through competition with the trout and predation on trout. No invasive species have been found in Strawberry but are in the area. Before and after launching, lake users are required to inspect and remove any aquatic plants and animals from their watercraft and trailers as well as pull the plug and drain all water from the watercraft, including bilges, livewells and baitwells.

Strawberry Lake is a designated stream trout lake that is managed for Rainbow Trout. The dissolved oxygen and temperature profiles were measured in August 2022 to monitor habitat for trout. Optimal thermal and oxygen conditions for Rainbow Trout (11-19°C [52-66°F] and greater than or equal to 5 ppm DO) occurred in about in about 3 vertical ft in the August measurement. The coldest oxygenated water (greater than 5 ppm DO) in August was 16.1°C (61°F) at a depth of 21 ft. Temperature at a dissolved oxygen concentration of 3 ppm (TDO3) was 14.3°C (58°F). Oxythermal habitat conditions found in August 2022 were the best measured in Strawberry Lake over about the last 7 years of nearly annual monitoring with similar good trout habitat last found in 2013 and 2014. Strawberry Lake is normally stocked with about 1,200 yearling Rainbow Trout each spring. Designated stream trout lakes have additional angling regulations. Be sure to consult the current Minnesota Fishing Regulations book for regulations, seasons, and possession limits before fishing designated trout waters.
