NUMBERS OF FISH CAPTURED WERE LOW DUE TO THE FISH KILL LAST WINTER. NOP WERE THE ONLY FISH CAPTURED IN THE GILLNETS, AND WERE SAMPLED IN NUMBERS NEAR THE STATE AND LOCAL MEDIANS FOR GILLNETS AND TRAPNETS. ONE NOP WAS AGE 0 (TWO FISH OF SIMILAR SIZE WERE GILLED IN TRAPNET LEADS), TWO AGE 3, ONE AGE 4, AND TWO AGE 5. GROWTH WAS AVERAGE FOR THE SPECIES. IN ADDITION TO NOP, ONE BOF, TWO BLB ONE YEB, AND 11 BLC WERE CAPTURED IN THE TRAPNETS. SEINING WAS NOT POSSIBLE DUE TO HEAVY SUBMERGED VEGETATION AND THE CATTAIL MARSH SURROUNDING THE LAKE. INSTEAD, 1/4 INCH TRAPNETS WERE SET, CAPTURING ONE BRB, EIGHT BLC, AND TWO HSF.

THE NORTHERN PIKE CATCH WAS ABOVE THE LOCAL MEDIAN CATCH RATE AND LENGTHS RANGED FROM 14 TO 25 INCHES NORTHERN PIKE GROWTH WAS AVERAGE TO GOOD IN EARLY YEARS, BUT IS BELOW AVERAGE IN OLDER AGE GROUPS, POSSIBLY DUE TO REDUCED FORAGE. THE CATCHES OF PUMPKINSEEDS, BLUEGILLS, AND BLACK CRAPPIES WERE LESS THAN LOCAL MEDIAN RATES. MOST ARE SMALL BUT THREE OF THE BLUEGILLS SAMPLED WERE GREATER THAN 8 INCHES IN LENGTH. BOTH BLACK AND YELLOW BULL- HEADS ARE PRESENT. YELLOW APPEAR TO BE MOST ABUN- DANT THOUGH BLACK TEND TO BE LARGER. FORTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE BLACK BULLHEADS SAMPLED WERE GREATER THAN 12 IN LOW NUMBERS ARE BOWFIN, PUMPKINSEED, LARGEMOUTH BASS, AND YELLOW PERCH. CARP ARE KNOWN TO PRESENT FROM PREVIOUS SURVEYS, BUT NUMBERS ARE LOW.

N. Pike, bullhead and pumpkinseed are present in high numbers compared to local median catches. Yel perch, Brn bullhead, Bluegill, Blk crappie, & Hyb sunfish each exhibit average size pop. for Metro Region lakes. Carp are present in low numbers.
