Lake Two Fifty-four is an 8.5 acre lake located approximately six miles east of Isabella, MN. Access is by an unmarked foot path for 0.1 mile; north of U.S. Forest Service Road 172. The lake is surrounded by federal land and the shoreline is in a natural state.Conditions in Lake Two Fifty-four are considered marginal for stream trout, with shallow water, high summer temperatures, and a dense yellow perch population. Nevertheless, fair numbers of brook trout were sampled, including a small number of quality-size fish. The average size was 10.7 inches; however, fish up to 15.2 inches (2.5 lb) were sampled. The lake is scheduled to be stocked with brook trout fingerlings every even year; however, if it is determined that these stockings do not provide a suitable fishery stocking will be discontinued.Lake Two Fifty-four is not a designated trout lake, but the open season, possession limit, size limit, transportation, and other stream trout regulations found under the stream trout "Lakes" section of the Minnesota Fishing Regulations apply.

The unnamed lake (Two Fiftyfour) is about 8 acres in area, and the maximum depth is 6 feet. Most of the lake is less than 5 feet deep. There are no trails or roads to the lake, and the nearest roaad is Forest Service Road #172, about 0.1 mile to the south. There are three short inlets and an outlet. Two of the inlets originate from springs. The lake levels are maintained by a beaver dam on the outlet which holds about a 10 inch head of water. Most of the land surrounding the lake is low forest land; some is moderately sloping foreest land. Soils of the lake bottom are mostly muck with occasional boulders. Limited areas of detritus, muck, and boulders are also present. Total alkalinity at the time of the survey was 62.5 ppm, classifying this as a moderately hard-water lake. Most of the lakes in the vicinity of this lake have soft-water. Moderate amounts of vegetation were present throughout the lake at all depths. Total catch of two gillnets and a minnow trap (found in the lake) were as follows: 82 White Sucker, 3 Yellow Perch, and several Pearl Dace and Creek Chub. Brook Trout have been reported occasionally caught by residents of the area in past years. Spawning conditions were rated between poor and fair for all species of gamefish except Northern Pike, which had "fair to good" potential spawning conditions. Some of the White Sucker had heavy infestation of immature (Ligula intestinalis) worms in there body cavities.
