June 15, 1989NORTHERN PIKE ARE SMALL AND ABUNDANT, CARP NUMBERS ARE JUST OVER THE MEDIAN FOR TRAPNETS. ALL THREE SPECIES OF BULLHEADS ARE PRESENT WITH THE YELLOW B…

NORTHERN PIKE ARE SMALL AND ABUNDANT, CARP NUMBERS ARE JUST OVER THE MEDIAN FOR TRAPNETS. ALL THREE SPECIES OF BULLHEADS ARE PRESENT WITH THE YELLOW BULLHEAD AT FIFTY-ONE TIMES THE STATE MEDIAN FOR GILLNETS, PUMPKINSEED ARE OVER ABUNDANT AND MOSTLY SMALL. MANY YOUNG OF THE YEAR PUMPKINSEED WERE CAUGHT IN THE NATURAL REPRODUCTION NETS. THE YELLOW PERCH HAVE INCREASED SINCE THE LAST SURVEY AND ARE TWICE THE STATE AVERAGE IN NUMBER. BOWFIN AND WHITE SUCKERS ARE NEAR THE STATE MEDIAN NUM- BERS. THE WALLEYE POPULATION IS LOW.

FAIRLY HIGH CARP POPULATION, BUT THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM. CARP APPEAR TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH FROM MILLE LACS. NORTHERN PIKE POPULATION IS HIGH BUT IN GOOD CONDITION. BULLHAED POPULATION IS FAIRLY HIGH. LARGEMOUTH BASS ARE PRESENT IN GOOD NUMBERS AND SIZE. PUMPKINSEEDS ARE THE DOMINANT SUNFISH. BLUEGILL NUMBERS ARE LOW. BOWFIN ARE NUMEROUS. BLACK CRAPPIES ARE BELOW AVG IN NUMBER, BUT OF AVG SIZE. YELLOW PERCH ARE PRESENT AT ABOUT HALF STATE WIDE AVERAGE.
