Silverview is managed as a "Kids Fishing Pond." It receives an annual spring stocking of crappies, bluegills, or a combination of the two species. Six fish species were sampled during the 1993 netting. Black bullhead abundance was moderate (14.0/net) and it was the dominant species sampled during the survey. Black bullhead were small in size, with an average length of 6.0 inches. Black crappie abundance was normal, and fish ranged in size from 5.9 to 11.8 inches. Black crappie had an average length of 7.4 inches and an average weight of 0.3 lbs. Bluegill abundance was low (0.8/net), however, average size was good (7.0 inches). Green sunfish, pumpkinseed, and hybrid sunfish were all low in abundance. Heavy aquatic vegetation and shallow depth of Silverview make it prone to periodic winter and summer kills.
