The 1993 investigation represents the initial survey for Morgan Lake. Northern Pike had a low gillnet catch-per-unit-effort (CPUE) of 3.0 per lift with a mean length of 25.9 inches. Northern pike growth rate was fast compared to other Duluth Area lakes. Conversely, yellow perch gillnet CPUE was above the third quartile for lake class 17 at 27.0 per lift and growth rate was slow compared to other Duluth Area lakes. Pumpkinseed trapnet CPUE of 19.0 per lift was above the third quartile for this lake class. Mean length of pumpkinseed was 4.2 inches. White sucker and black bullhead also had abundance indices above their respective lake class median values. Golden shiner, blacknose shiner, fathead minnow and johnny darter were also sampled.
