Little Long is an 18 acre lake with a maximum depth of 22 feet. The lake is located seven miles east of Cotton, MN off the Elde Road and has no designated public access. Little Long was surveyed during the summer of 2018 to gather information about fish populations and aquatic habitat. The best fishing opportunities within Little Long Lake are currently for Black Crappie and Bluegill. Black Crappie abundance of 1.5 per trapnet lift was average compared to other similar Minnesota lakes, but average size was large at 9.8 inches. Bluegill abundance of 7.2 per trapnet lift was average compared to other similar Minnesota Lakes. Average size of Bluegill was 5.9 inches but a couple large specimens were captured in gillnets that exceeded 9 inches in length. Quality angling opportunities also exist for Northern Pike. Northern Pike gillnet mean length was 21.8 inches but a pike that was nearly 40 inches was sampled. The Northern Pike population density was average compared to other similar Minnesota lakes.
