FOUR ONE YEAR OLD NORTHERN PIKE WERE CAPTURED. THEY EXHIBITED FAST GROWTH. BLACK BULLHEADS WERE IN NUMBERS SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE. BROWN BULLHEADS HYBRID SUNFISH, BLUEGILLS, AND BLACK CRAPPIES WERE PRESENT, BUT IN VERY SMALL NUMBERS. GOLDEN SHINER YY WERE ABUNDANT IN THE 1.4 THE FISH POPULATION STRUCTURE WAS INDICITIVE OF A FREQUENT WINTERKILL LAKE. FISH SPECIES DIVERSITY AND ABUNDANCE HAVE VARIED GREATLY FROM INVESTI- GATION TO ANOTHER.

BLACK BULLHEAD, BROWN BULLHEAD, YELLOW BULLHEAD, NORTHERN PIKE, GREEN SUNFISH, AND HYBRID SUNFISH, WERE FOUND AT ABOVE LOCAL MEDIAN LEVELS. YELLOW PERCH, PUMPKINSEED, AND BLUEGILLS WERE SAMPLED AT BELOW LOCAL MEDIAN NUMBERS. THE BLUEGILL POPULA- TION HAS DEVELOPED SINCE 1978 WHEN NETTING SHOWED ONLY YOUNG-OF-THE -YEAR BLUEGILLS PRESENT. LARGE- MOUTH BASS ARE ALSO PRESENT. THE NEAR ABSENCE OF LARGEMOUTH BASS AND PANFISH IN 1978 INDICATES THAT MINN. REG. LAKE SUFFERS OCCASIONAL WINTERKILLS.
