A temperature-dissolved oxygen (TDO) profile was collected on 8/6/2025 to measure the amount of thermal habitat available for Tullibee. The TDO3 (temperature at 3 mg/l dissolved oxygen) was determined to be 5.8 degrees C and comparable to previous assessments. While water from the surface to about 17 feet was warm, overall oxy-thermal habitat was good for Tullibee from the surface to a depth of 99 feet. Data collected from 2009-2025 indicate abundant thermal habitat for Tullibee in most years, with the worst conditions recorded in 2009 and 2010, and the best in 2023. The lake provides "good" habitat compared to other lakes in the Aitkin management area that are monitored for Tullibee habitat. Because the area is located near the southern edge of Minnesota's Tullibee range, TDO profiles should continue to be collected to monitor the availability of cold-water habitat.

A targeted electrofishing survey focusing on Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass was conducted on 5/27/2025, to better evaluate Bass numbers and in particular Smallmouth Bass. Smallmouth Bass have declined below the lake's management goal based on gill net catches in 2021 (0.1 per net) and 2023 (0.3 per net). Four electrofishing surveys have been done on the lake in 1998, 2018, 2022, and 2025. Smallmouth Bass catch rates in 2025 (21.7 per hour) appeared to be up from 2018 (6.7 per hour) and 2022 (14.4 per hour), but still below the catch rate in 1998 (32 per hour). In the most recent assessment, Smallmouth Bass ranged from 9.3 to 18.5 inches and averaged 14.0 inches, similar to previous electrofishing assessments. It is possible that species composition (e.g. increased Northern Pike or Largemouth Bass) or habitat variables (e.g. increased water clarity over time) may account for some of the declining numbers in gill nets. Largemouth Bass catch rates in 2025 (26.9 per hour) were down from 2022 (50.6 per hour) and similar to 2018 (29.3 per Hour). Fish ranged from 3.5 to 18.31 inches and averaged 10.8 inches.

A temperature - dissolved oxygen (TDO) profile was collected on August 6, 2024 to measure the amount of thermal habitat available for Tullibee. The TDO3 (temperature at 3 mg/l dissolved oxygen) was determined to be 7.2 degrees C, which was comparable to the 2012 TDO3 and slightly warmer than previous assessments. While water from the surface to about 20 feet was fairly warm, overall oxy-thermal habitat was good for Tullibee from 21 feet to the bottom. Data collected from 2009-2024 indicate abundant thermal habitat for Tullibee in most years, with the worst conditions recorded in 2009 and 2010, and the best in 2023. The lake provides "good" habitat compared to other lakes in Aitkin area that are monitored for Tullibee habitat. Because the area is located near the southern edge of Minnesota's Tullibee range, TDO profiles should continue to be collected to monitor the availability of coldwater habitat.
