Crappie Lake is located five miles southeast of Lake George in central Hubbard County. Crappie Lake has a surface area of 23 acres, shoreline length of 0.85 miles, and a maximum depth of 73 feet. Hiking and canoe portage trails are the only access to the lake because the lake is in an area where no motorized vehicles are allowed. Crappie Lake is one of three lakes in the Park Rapids Management Area that is designated as a stream trout lake, specifically managed for Rainbow Trout only, and stocked each fall with Rainbow Trout fingerlings. The other two lakes are Blacksmith and Newman Lakes. Abundance of Rainbow Trout in Crappie Lake in 2021 was the highest since 1989. Rainbow Trout from the 2020 stockings ranged from 8.5 to 11 inches and fish from the 2018 and 2019 stockings ranged from 13 to 17 inches.

Crappie Lake is located five miles southeast of Lake George in central Hubbard County. Crappie Lake has a surface area of 23 acres, a shoreline length of 0.85 miles, and a maximum depth of 73 feet. Hiking and canoe portage trails are the only access to the lake because the lake is located in an area where no motorized vehicles are allowed. Crappie Lake is one of three lakes in the Park Rapids Fisheries Management Area that is designated as a stream trout lake and stocked each fall with Rainbow Trout fingerlings. The other two lakes are Blacksmith and Newman Lakes. Abundance of Rainbow Trout in Crappie Lake in 2017 was similar to 2015 and 2016 finding, but was lower compared to the two other trout lakes in the Park Rapids management area. Rainbow Trout from the 2016 stockings ranged from 9.5 to 11.5 inches and Rainbow Trout from the 2013, 2014, and 2015 stockings ranged from 13 to 19 inches. All of the Rainbow Trout captured in 2017 were Kamloops strain. Based on results of higher survival of Kamloops than Arlee strain, all Rainbow Trout stocking in Crappie Lake will be Kamloops strain starting in 2017

Rainbow Trout from the 2015 stockings ranged from 8.5 to 12 inches and Rainbow Trout from the 2013 and 2014 stockings ranged from 13 to 17 inches. Currently, two different strains of Rainbow Trout are being evaluated in Crappie Lake and the DNR would like information about your catch (i.e., size and presence of adipose fin). There is a sign with additional information along the walking trail.
