Deep Lake is located five miles south of the town of Lake George in central Hubbard County. Deep has a surface area of 43 acres and a maximum depth of 82 feet. The 2023 survey was the initial fisheries survey on Deep Lake. The entire shoreline and property surrounding Deep Lake is owned by Hubbard County and was acquired in March of 2022. Hubbard County is currently working on a plan to develop the area into a camping and recreation area. There is no developed boat ramp at the present time but is open to carry in access. Deep Lake supports Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, and panfish populations. Northern Pike were sampled in moderate numbers for this area with an average length and weight of 23.7 inches and 3.0 pounds. Northern Pike up to 29.6 inches were sampled. Largemouth Bass were sampled in moderate numbers for this area with a good average size of 12.8 inches and fish measured up to 19.4 inches. Bluegill and Pumpkinseed were sampled in moderate numbers of this area with fish in the 6-8 inch size range. Black Crappie were sampled in lower numbers with fish measured up to 11.0 inches. Growth rates for Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, and Black Crappie were very slow for this area. Currently no aquatic invasive species (AIS) have been identified in Deep Lake. To avoid spreading AIS, lake users are required to remove all aquatic plants and animals from their watercraft and drain all water from their boat before leaving the lake.
