STATUS OF THE FISHERY: Maple is a small shallow lake that is prone to periodic winterkills. The drought of 1988 drastically reduced water levels in Maple and the lake winterkilled as a result. The fish population in Maple Lake is presently comprised largely of carp (92.3/gillnet) and black bullhead (32.0/trapnet). Fathead minnow were also abundant (5,000+ captured) in the small mesh trapnets.

STATUS OF THE FISHERY: Present population consists of a large population of black bullheads, most being about 5 inches in length. There is a large population of northern pike (17.7/gillnet) ranging from 12 to 27 inches in length. Good population of perch from 5 to 6 inches in length. Small crappie and bluegill populations are present, but not in large numbers. Six young of the year largemouth bass showed up in shoreline seining.
