Sunfish species (bluegill, pumpkinseed, green, and hybrid sunfish) dominated the fish population. Only 34 (6.9%) of the fish were over 6 inches in length with 7 (1.7%) over 7 inches long. Black crappie were present in very low numbers. Northern pike were the most abundant predator, with most fish between 22 and 28 inches long. Largemouth bass appear to be abundant, although the species does not catch well in gill or trap nets. Yellow bullhead were present in moderate numbers with fish up to 14 inches long. A few black bullhead and one white sucker were sampled.

NOP NUMBERS WERE ALMOST THREE TIMES STATE AND LOCAL MEDIANS; WEIGHT PER NET WAS ABOUT TWICE THE RESPECTIVE STATE AND LOCAL MEDIAN, ALTHOUGH GROWTH OF NORTHERNS WAS SIGNIFICANTLY ABOVE AVERAGE OVER THE THREE ANNULI EXAMINED. LMB WERE SEEN IN NUMBERS ABOVE LOCAL AND STATE MEDIANS IN BOTH GILL AND TRAP NETS; THE FISH WERE INTERMEDIATE IN INDIVIDUAL WEIGHT BETWEEN STATE AND LOCAL AVERAGES AND GROWTH RATE WAS SLIGHTLY BELOW AVERAGE. PAN WERE TAKEN IN AVERAGE TO LOW NUMBERS AND SIZES WERE GENERALLY SMALL. REPRODUCTION CHECKS (1/4 INCH TRAPS) PRODUCED YOUNG SUNFISH AND LMB AND TWO YOY CRAPPIES.

THE GAMEFISH POPULATION IS DOMINATED BY NORTHERN PIKE AND BLUEGILLS, BOTH AT NUMBERS ABOVE THE LOCAL MEDIAN CATCH RATES. NORTHERN PIKE GROWTH IS SOMEWHAT BELOW AVERAGE. BLUEGILLS WERE SAMPLED AT SLIGHTLY ABOVE LOCAL MEDIAN NUMBERS, BUT ARE VIRTUALLY ALL OF A SMALL SIZE. THE MODAL SIZE OF BLUEGILLS IS THE SAME AS FOUND IN 1982. YELLOW BULLHEADS ARE ALSO ABUNDANT AT 4.6X THE LOCAL MEDIAN CATCH RATE AND 40% WERE GREATER THAN 12 IN LENGTH. PUMPKINSEEDS ARE PRESENT AT NEAR AVER- AGE NUMBERS AND HYBRIDIZE WITH BLUEGILLS TO YIELD NEARLY 15X THE MEDIAN CATCH RATE OF HYBRID SUNFISH. SOME OF THESE A FEW LARGEMOUTH BASS, BLACK CRAPPIE, YELLOW PERCH, AND BOWFIN WERE SAMPLED.
