June 22, 1992BLB AND NOP ABUNDANCE WAS HIGH. GILLNET CATCHES OF BLB WERE 30 TIMES THE LOCAL MEDIAN LEVELS, WHILE NORTHERN PIKE CATCHES WERE OVER 9 TIMES THE LOCAL…
BLB AND NOP ABUNDANCE WAS HIGH. GILLNET CATCHES OF BLB WERE 30 TIMES THE LOCAL MEDIAN LEVELS, WHILE NORTHERN PIKE CATCHES WERE OVER 9 TIMES THE LOCAL LEVELS. THREE YEAR CLASSES OF NOP WERE SAMPLED WITH 84% OF THE AGED FISH BEING AGE III. NOP GROWTH WAS SLOW FOR THE LOCAL AREA. TRAPNET CATCHES OF NOP, BLB, YEB, AND PMK WERE ABOVE LOCAL MEDIAN ABUNDANCE. BLB TRAPNET CATCHES WERE OVER 36 TIMES THE LOCAL MEDIAN LEVELS. BLG AND BLC TRAPNET CATCHES WERE BELOW LOCAL MEDIAN ABUNDANCE. HOWEVER AVERAGE SIZE WAS GOOD. THE PSD FOR BLG AND BLC WAS 84 AND 94 RESPECTIVELY. SHORELINE SEINING CONFIRMED YOY PRODUCTION OF NOP, BLB, PMK, BLG, LMB, AND CARP.

N. Pike, Blk Bullhead and snapping turtles are present in high numbers for lakes in the Metro Region. Brn Bullhead, Pumpkinseed, Blk Crappie, Hyb Sunfish, Bowfin (gillnetted only) and Gldn Shiners (trapnetted only) appear present in avg. numbers. Yel Bullhead, Bluegill & Carp are present in low numbers. Natural Reproduction of Carp was indicated by shoreline seining.
