July 19, 1967DISCUSSION AND SUMMARY:FAWN LAKE HAS NO INLETS OR OUTLETS. SHOAL WATER SOILS ARE 45% SAND, 45% GRAVEL AND 10% MUCK. SEVERAL EMERGENT AND SUBMERGED AQU…

DISCUSSION AND SUMMARY:FAWN LAKE HAS NO INLETS OR OUTLETS. SHOAL WATER SOILS ARE 45% SAND, 45% GRAVEL AND 10% MUCK. SEVERAL EMERGENT AND SUBMERGED AQUATIC PLANTS WERE FOUND; MOST OF THE AQUATIC PLANTS HAD A SPARSE OR SCATTERED DENSITY RATING, EXCEPT FOR MUSKGRASS AND BUSHY PONDWEED.TESTNETTING INDICATED A GOOD FISH POPULATION OF NORTHERN PIKE, LARGEMOUTH BASS, BLUEGILL AND ROCK BASS. SPAWNING HABITAT IS POOR FOR NORTHERN PIKE SINCE MARSH AREAS ARE ABSENT. GOOD SPAWNING HABITAT EXISTS FOR LARGEMOUTH BASS AND OTHER CENTRARCHIDS. BLACK GRUB (NEASCUS SPP.) AND YELLOW GRUB (CLINOSTOMUM MARGINATUM) WERE THE ONLY PARASITES FOUND. NORTHERN PIKE, ROCK BASS, YELLOW PERCH, LARGEMOUTH BASS AND BLUEGILL WERE THE SPECIES INFECTED WITH NEASCUS AND ALL SPECIES HAD A HEAVY INFECTION OF NEASCUS.
