Inver Grove Heights City Hall pond is a small 13.5 acre lake that has two basins connected to each other except during extreme low water. The lake is 17' deep in one basin and 15' in the other and lies entirely on public property adjacent to the Inver Grove Heights Civic Complex. Water level fluctuates widely. At low water level, the two basins are nearly isolated. At high water, there is roughly 4 feet of water on top of the shallowest point between the two basins. Water level in the summer of 2022 was low due to extended drought conditions in the area. Water clarity is excellent, with a 15.5 foot secchi reading at the time of this survey. Submerged vegetation was generally dense with coontail being the only common species. Other species present, but rare were elodea, narrowleaf pondweed, and flatstem pondweed. Nutsedge and smartweed were abundant along shore during the summer. A walking path runs along the west side. The pond has been used twice as a walleye rearing pond and has been stocked with walleye since 2003 (most recently in 2019 and 2022 with fry). Winterkill has been frequent in recent years and walleye populations have not established themselves even with intensive stocking. Bluegill, Black Crappie, Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike are present in above average to average numbers.

The pond lies entirely on public property adjacent to the Inver Grove Heights Civic Complex. The pond has been used twice as a walleye rearing pond and has been stocked regularly with walleye since 2003. Winterkill has been frequent in recent years and walleye populations have not established themselves even with intensive stocking. Bluegill and black crappie are stocked on an annual basis and provide summer fishing action even if winterkill does occur. The current investigation was limited to electrofishing and only one gamefish was sampled, an 11" largemouth bass. Small black bullheads were abundant and indicative of the frequent winterkill that has been occurring.

Inver Grove City Hall pond is a 13.5 acre lake adjacent to the Inver Grove Heights civic complex. Parking is available in the lot on the north east side of the lake. A playground is just up the hill next to the community center. A paved walking path runs along the north and west sides of the lake, but may be partially flooded when water level is high. There is ample opportunty for shorefishing - primarily on the west side. There is no boat or vehicle access, but a canoe could easily be carried in. The lake is divided into two basins by a small island. Maximum depth is 15 to 18 feet, depending on water level. Water clarity is fair to poor. Aquatic vegetation is sparse; flooded trees provide fish cover in parts of the lake.Walleye have been stocked regularly since 2001 and are abundant. Average length is 15 inches. Bluegill are abundant, but small. Average length is 4.7 inches with 14% over 6 inches and only 2% over 7 inches. Black crappie are moderately abundant. Average length is 7.25 inches. Smallmouth bass have been stocked once and are present in low to moderate abundance, with lengths between 14.5 and 15.5 inches. Other species sampled were white sucker and golden shiner.
