Simley Lake is located in Inver Grove Heights at 80th Street and Cahill Ave, is a very popular shorefishing lake that has a pier and two shorefishing structures, plus plenty of fishable shoreline on the island (a walking bridge allows access to the island). A variety of species are present, including Bluegill, Black Crappie, Walleye and Bullheads. The most abundant fish are Bluegill. In 2022, Electrofishing was conducted targeting Walleye resulting in 12 Walleye being sampled with a Walleye catch rate of 27/hour. This catch rate is similar to the 2009 and 2006 walleye catch rates which were 26/hour in 2009 and 30/hour in 2006. Walleye lengths in 2022 ranged from 12.4 to 18.4 inches with a mean length of 14.3 inches. Although a decent number of walleyes were sampled, most Walleye were less than 14 inches. Many of these fish will be approaching keeper size in the next few years and anglers should enjoy targeting them in Simley Pond.

Simley Lake is located in Inver Grove Heights at 80th Street and Cahill Ave. The Fishing in the Neighborhood Program has been active over the years at Simley Pond as it is a very popular shorefishing lake. It has a pier and two shorefishing structures, plus plenty of fishable shoreline on the island (a walking bridge allows access to the island). Simley Pond winter killed during the winter of 2013/2014 with most fish species of being eliminated during that event. The lake was stocked with Bluegill, Walleye and Channel catfish from 2014 through 2017. Those species of fish are present along with Pumpkinseed and Green Sunfish and Yellow Perch which showed up in the 2017 survey. The most commonly caught fish are Bluegill. Bluegills in Simley Pond are generally small, and had an average size of 3.8 inches. A decent number of Walleye were sampled, with all but one measuring less than 15 inches. Many of these fish are approaching keeper size and anglers should enjoy targeting them in the coming years. Northern Pike have been sampled in the past but were not observed in 2017. Channel catfish were stocked in June 2014 as fingerlings with one Channel Catfish being sampled in this survey. That fish was 18.5 inches long. Channel Catfish should provide angler action in 2018 and beyond.

Simley Lake is located in Inver Grove Heights at 80th Street and Cahill Ave. It is a very popular shorefishing lake. It has a pier and two shorefishing structures, plus plenty of fishable shoreline on the island (a walking bridge allows access to the island). A variety of species are present, including bluegill, black crappie, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, bullhead, and carp. Most commonly caught are bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, and carp. Bluegills and crappie are generally small, but several hundred nice sized bluegills (7.5 to 8 inches) are stocked each fall. Largemouth bass were sampled in moderate numbers but the largest fish measured only 12 inches. Smallmouth bass are present and appear to be reproducing in Simley based on the age of fish sampled in the survey. A decent number of walleye were sampled, with all but two measuring less than 14 inches. Many of these fish are approaching keeper size and anglers should enjoy targeting them in the coming years. Yellow perch and northern pike have been sampled in the past but were not observed in 2012. Channel catfish were stocked for the first time in June 2012 as fingerlings and should provide angler action in 2013 and beyond.
